Tai O Police Station is a beautiful two-storey colonial style building which once contained a report room, armoury, a charge-room, two cells and dormitories for officers. There was also an extension block built in 1962 which contained a canteen, kitchens, laundry room, Indian officers' bathroom, an accommodation for servants and latrines.
The first project headed by the Hong Kong Heritage Conservation Foundation Limited is the revitalization of the Old Tai O Police Station. This initiative aims to provide an effective framework to promote the appreciation of the historical value and significance of the building and its surroundings.
The project involves the sensitive conversion of the police station into a nine-suite boutique hotel that will allow visitors, tourists and the Tai O community to establish a connection with the spirit of the old Tai O police station. The project endeavors to reinstate the site which consists the 2-storey main block, the extension of the outhouse, the surrounding landscape, and all the external features to their original beauty.
